Home and Community Care Support Services Champlain is one of 14 Home and Community Care Support Services organizations in Ontario. We are dedicated to ensuring our more than 64,000 patients annually receive the highest-quality health care and services at home. Our patient-care coordination teams help develop care plans for people of most ages, focused on maintaining each patient's independence and dignity. We also provide long-term care home placement services, and facilitate our patients’ access to the community-based services they need.

Position Summary:

The Business Intelligence Partner is responsible for obtaining, summarizing, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting organizational, program and patient data to support strategic objectives and facilitate efficient and effective service operations across the organization. To support this work, the Business Intelligence Partner participates in the ongoing development and maintenance of existing reports, data warehouse and data infrastructure. Further, the Business Intelligence Partner provides education and recommendations to management and staff with respect to the use of information and actions to be taken, based upon analysis of information. This position acts as a partner to internal clients to leverage analytical skills, and enhance business decisions.

Primary Responsibilities:

•Responsible for Data Extraction, Analysis, Interpretation and Reporting for the organization. Develops and maintains a SQL database warehouse, SQL scripts, GIS analysis infrastructure and utilizes Business Intelligence tools
•Develops and provides ad-hoc information requests and performance improvement reports to management and staff through the creation of graphs, charts, worksheets, standardized reports, metrics, and individual consultations by utilizing reporting analysis tools to access information, analyze the meaning of information, and to present information in such a way as to influence and create actions
•Performs information analysis in order to provide the most relevant and useful information to the organization
•Consults with management on business needs, translating business needs into analytics/reporting requirements and interfacing with management to ensure successful delivery of analysis or information reporting
•Consolidates statistical analysis from various information systems to provide a summarized view in the most appropriate and effective manner, assisting management in taking appropriate actions for organizational and individual improvements
•Researches, develops, and provides effective methods for information collection, information usage, and the ability to forecast future needs in order to support business strategies and operations
•Provides relevant, accurate information and key insights in a timely manner and, based on the information results, makes relevant recommendations to the client
•Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with all levels of management, staff, and external stakeholders to discuss and provide advice in developing reporting needs
•Prepares and provides Business Intelligence overviews and presentations to a wide variety of audiences (internal and external stakeholders)
•Provides support and education to management and staff on the use of information, analyzing trends and linking data quality to information, in order to enhance the organization’s capacity for managing the business

Education and Experience:

•Completion of a Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Health Informatics or Epidemiology coupled with one year of relevant experience; or
•Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Health Informatics or Epidemiology with relevant experience normally attained over a period of five years
•Extensive experience with Report Writing (e.g. PowerBI, Paginated Reports) / SQL Server queries
•Experience with Database Administration, ETL processes, Microsoft Business Intelligence environments (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, SSDT) preferred
•Experience in a quality analysis through statistical techniques, and/or trending analysis against benchmarking

Knowledge:

•Thorough knowledge of MS Office Suite, SQL databases, ETL Processes, Microsoft Business Intelligence environments (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, SSDT), Microsoft reporting tTools (Paginated Reports, PowerBI, Power Query) - Required
•Knowledge of GIS tools and concepts will be considered a preferred asset
•Knowledge of MS Azure Concepts and Azure Data Services a preferred asset
•Knowledge of outcome measurement and performance improvement approaches with proven ability in using statistical approaches to information analysis
•Knowledge of Champlain Home & Community Care Support Services programs and organizational structure
•Knowledge of the Canadian healthcare environment and the role of the Champlain Home & Community Care Support Services within it
•Understanding of strategic and financial/operational planning and organizational mandate and operations
•Knowledge of healthcare reporting requirements and CIHI guidelines regarding the Home Care Reporting System (HCRS) & MIS standards considered an asset
•Effective planning and organizational skills including thorough understanding of project management processes and techniques
•Comprehensive understanding of Champlain Home & Community Care Support Services business resources, i.e. CHRIS, RAI-HC, Quadrant, GIS, CIMS, Intellihealth, or financial management considered an asset
•Experience working in evolving environments

•Effective in bringing forward ideas beyond the original information needs, enhancing the analysis and tools/reports for management and staff
•Effective in teaching concepts and using tools to a wide variety of audiences

Affiliation: OPSEU
Pay Rate: Wages are in accordance with the collective agreement between Home and Community Care Support Services Champlain and OPSEU and starting salaries range from $41.672/hr. - $44.697/hr.

Shift: Monday to Friday; 8:30am - 4:30pm
Location: 4200 Labelle St, Ottawa ON
